Brighton and Bournemouth are reportedly monitoring Atletico Nacional centre-back Neider Parra, with several other clubs also showing interest in the Colombian defender ahead of the January 2027 transfer window.
The 21-year-old attracted attention after Atletico Nacional’s 3-1 win over Junior Barranquilla on 30 September. Colombian journalist Julian Capera initially reported that scouts from Premier League and Serie A clubs were present at the Atanasio Girardot stadium in Medellin to watch Parra.
In a follow-up report on the scouting activity, Capera named Brighton and Bournemouth among the clubs tracking the defender. A separate report by Sport Witness also identified the two English clubs as having representatives at the match. FC Porto, Ajax and Palmeiras were reportedly among the other clubs keeping an eye on him.
There is no publicly confirmed bid or agreement with Atletico Nacional at this stage.
Atletico Nacional Reportedly Set Price for Parra
Atletico Nacional could seek more than €3 million for Parra, according to a report by Bolavip. The outlet cited reports from sources close to the Colombian club, but Atletico Nacional has not officially confirmed an asking price.
The same report suggested that the club was considering options for its defence in case Parra leaves for Europe in 2027. Seventeen-year-old centre-back Roymer Ospino, who plays for Atletico Nacional’s Under-20 side, was identified as a possible replacement. Former Nacional defender Stefan Medina, currently with Monterrey, was also mentioned as an option.
However, these reports do not establish that a transfer is close. There has been no publicly confirmed offer from Brighton, Bournemouth or any of the other clubs linked with the defender.
Parra’s performance against Junior helped draw attention to his progress. According to Capera’s original report on the match, he provided an assist, won all his tackles, completed 93 per cent of his passes in his own half and recorded six defensive contributions.
Who Is Neider Parra?
Born on 30 April 2005, Parra is a 1.92-metre centre-back who has progressed through Atletico Nacional’s development system in recent years.
According to Atletico Nacional’s official profile, he began his formal football development with Medellin City at the age of 18. Atletico Nacional spotted him in 2023 and subsequently brought him into its youth setup.
He gained his first experience in senior professional football with Real Cundinamarca in Colombia’s second division in 2025, initially on loan. He returned to Atletico Nacional in 2026 and made his first-team debut against Deportes Tolima on 2 March.
His physical presence and ability to play the ball out from defence have contributed to his growing reputation. The possibility of a move to Europe has also led to comparisons with Davinson Sanchez, who left Atletico Nacional for Ajax in 2016 before moving to Tottenham Hotspur.
That pathway offers a point of reference for Parra’s development, although his own career remains at an early stage.
European Competition Could Develop
Brighton and Bournemouth are not the only clubs reportedly following Parra. The interest attributed to FC Porto, Ajax and Palmeiras suggests that Atletico Nacional could face competition if the defender becomes available.
For now, the situation remains one of reported scouting interest rather than an advanced transfer. Neither English club has publicly confirmed a bid, and Atletico Nacional has not announced any agreement or decision to sell the player.
January 2027 has been mentioned as a possible departure window, but much remains uncertain. Parra’s performances over the coming months and any concrete approaches from interested clubs will help determine whether the reported interest develops into a transfer move.
