Newcastle United have reportedly sent scouts to watch Valencia winger David Otorbi, while the Spanish club considers bringing forward a contract extension. The 19-year-old came off the bench to score his first LaLiga goal in Valencia’s 2-2 draw away to Racing Santander on 11 October.

Plaza Deportiva reported that Newcastle sent scouting representatives to watch him, confirming an earlier report from MARCA.

His agent, Nacho Gallart, has said that many clubs have contacted the player’s camp, mainly from the Premier League. He made the comments to MARCA, as reported by ElDesmarque.

Gallart said he and the player are happy at Valencia and want Otorbi to keep learning, earn more minutes and help the first team when selected. His comments confirm that clubs have made enquiries, but they do not establish that Newcastle have made an offer or opened formal transfer negotiations.

Valencia are also looking to protect their position. In a report published on 19 October, EsportBase said the club is pleased with Otorbi’s progress and is considering activating a contract extension before a performance-based trigger is reached. His deal is reported to run until June 2028, with clauses that could extend it to 2031 or 2032. The club has not disclosed the full terms, and reports differ on the final year.

Otorbi turned 19 on 16 October and has had more first-team opportunities this season after coming through Valencia’s academy. His goal at Racing Santander added to the attention around him, but the reporting so far points to scouting interest rather than an advanced transfer.

There is no verified evidence that Newcastle have submitted a bid. EsportBase said the parties are expected to meet in the coming weeks, with Braulio Vazquez present, to discuss the extension.
