Getafe have submitted a final offer to sign Jadon Sancho after working on a deal for the former Manchester United winger for around four months.

The 26-year-old has been a free agent since his Manchester United contract ended in June. Speaking to Spanish radio station COPE (h/t SoccerNews), Getafe president Angel Torres confirmed the club’s latest proposal and said they would give the England international time to make his decision. Torres said,

I’ve been working on this for four months. He’s now a free agent. We’ve made him a final offer.

Torres admitted that completing the signing will be difficult because Sancho has also received offers from Qatar and other destinations. Even so, Getafe plan to stay patient while the player decides on his future.

Wage demands and LaLiga rules complicate the deal

Sancho is available on a free transfer, which removes the need to pay Manchester United a fee. However, agreeing on a contract and registering him under LaLiga’s squad-cost regulations remains a difficult financial challenge for Getafe.

During his time at Old Trafford, Sancho was one of United’s highest-paid players, with weekly wages widely reported at around £300,000. Spanish media reports have placed his current salary expectations between €4 million and €5 million a year, though neither Sancho nor his representatives have publicly confirmed those figures.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Getafe have been looking at ways to make the deal work financially while staying within league rules that cover player wages and squad expenses. The Spanish side recently signed former Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal after he left his previous club, but Torres has indicated that bringing in Sancho would be more complicated.

Why Jose Bordalas wants the former United winger

Getafe manager Jose Bordalas is reportedly keen to add Sancho to his attacking options. The winger can play on either flank and is known for his close control, dribbling, and ability to take on defenders. Those qualities could give Getafe another threat in the final third when trying to break down organised defences.

Sancho has had an uneven few years since leaving Borussia Dortmund for Manchester United in 2021 in a deal widely reported to be worth £73 million. After developing into a leading young attacker in Germany, he struggled to establish himself consistently at Old Trafford.

That led to three separate loan moves away from United. A return to Dortmund in 2024 helped him reach the Champions League final. He then spent the 2024-25 season at Chelsea before joining Aston Villa on loan for the 2025-26 campaign, but he has remained without a permanent club since his United contract expired.

Reported interest from the Middle East

Getafe face competition from overseas as they wait for Sancho’s response. Alongside the offers from Qatar mentioned by Torres, clubs in the United Arab Emirates have also been linked with the winger.

Spanish newspaper AS reported on 17 October that UAE second-division sides Sokoor Al Arab and Arabian Falcons want to sign him. The report suggested those clubs could offer a larger financial package than Getafe.

Neither UAE club has confirmed the reports directly, and the available information does not show that both teams have made formal offers. While a move to the Middle East could bring higher wages, joining Getafe would allow Sancho to keep playing in one of Europe’s top leagues.

Sancho’s priorities and the details of any competing proposals remain unclear. Getafe have confirmed their final offer, but there has been no announcement that the winger has accepted the proposal or agreed to join the Spanish club.
